Mission

Mission

Dorothy's place logo

With love, respect and compassion, Dorothy’s Place provides essential services and transitional support to people experiencing the injustice of homelessness and extreme poverty.

david campos and his keys

No one realizes until they are here to witness it and hear testimony from the impoverished people we serve that struggle daily with chronic homelessness just how horribly inadequate, degrading, and scary life is for these people.

They’re here, existing moment to moment, believing in their home community, but numb from being threatened, insulted, and hassled by those that should be providing help.

We’re here to love and assist them in the way that THEY want, through consumer-driven social case management, healthcare coordination, housing navigation, and assistance after tenancy.

Our goal is to incorporate employment opportunities and permanent supportive housing into our array of services, and to ensure our community affords good health and the safety of housing to everyone.

Vision

Vision

It is the vision of the Franciscan Workers of Junipero Serra to live, to love, and to work in harmony; to serve the marginalized, to create partnerships that are mutually liberating, and to pursue social justice with respect and dignity for all, in the spirit of St. Francis and Dorothy Day.
